I was hoping to get a faster response, but it ended up taking longer than I expected. The wait was a bit frustrating, and I think the overall experience would’ve been much better with quicker communication

I do appreciate that the service fees are shown upfront, but I was frustrated that comparing delivery tips wasn’t easier. It feels like something that should be more straightforward, i’d expect an apology for making that part more confusing than it needs to be

"Worst Substitutions every single Time"
I swear, every time I order, they replace my stuff with the most random Junk. It doesn’t even feel close to what I picked. Super frustrating and I’m tired of dealing with it.

"Good idea, but the promo codes are frustrating"
I really like the idea of Instacart and it’s super convenient when it works, but the promo codes are so hit or miss. Twice I had a discount show up, then it just completely disappeared at checkout. Support did give me credits one time, which was nice, but it’s still annoying and feels kind of misleading.

"Tipping Before Delivery Feels a Little Odd"
Most of my orders have been totally fine, so no real complaints there. But the whole tipping-before-delivery thing always feels kind of awkward to me. I’m sitting there thinking, okay, am I supposed to guess how the service is going to be? It would just feel a lot better if it were easier to adjust the tip afterward, once I actually know how everything went
"Not many store options anymore"
So... Instacart used to have a decent amount of stores available near me, but now I’m only seeing like two options, and neither of them are places I actually shop. At this point, it doesn’t really feel worth opening the app if the store list is that limited
"I can’t trust the tracking anymore"
Instacart’s order tracking has gotten really frustrating. One time it showed my shopper was still at the store, and then two minutes later my groceries were just sitting outside my door with no knock or anything. Another time it kept saying “delivery in 10 minutes” for almost an hour. I don’t mind waiting if it’s going to take longer, but the updates feel so inaccurate now that I don’t trust them at all. It makes it impossible to plan around the delivery

"Thought it might be worth it, but not really"
I signed up thinking the subscription would help me save a bit, and at first I was like, okay, maybe this makes sense, but no, the fees still started adding up and the prices didn’t feel any better. I didn’t notice much value from it. Canceling it was probably the most satisfying part

I had to reset my password once, instacart made it easier than I expected. The email came through fast, and I also got a notice when I logged in from a new phone, which was reassuring. I guess it’s nice that they let you keep an eye on anything strange happening with your account. I’m still a little skeptical with apps that have my payment info, but so far I haven’t had any issues and it does make me feel a bit safer ordering groceries through them...

Instacart is convenient when I’m too busy or too tired to go to the store myself. Most of the shoppers I’ve had were nice, communicated well, and got the delivery done without any real problems, so I don’t have much to complain about there.
What drives me nuts is the payment authorization hold. They put a higher amount on my card than the actual order, and then it just sits there for a few days before clearing. I understand it’s probably for substitutions or price changes, but when you’re keeping an eye on your balance, it’s annoying and feels like wasted energy having to check it over and over. I just wish they made it more obvious upfront.

"Canceling My Order Was a Bit Frustrating"
I ended up having to cancel my order, it took longer than I expected. Customer support did help and was polite, but the whole process felt a little messy and not as smooth as it should’ve been. I think other customers would probably appreciate clearer updates and a faster cancellation process.

"Produce showed up looking rough"
I got my Instacart order yesterday afternoon while I was trying to make lunch, and the produce was disappointing. The strawberries already had mold on a few of them, the lettuce was brown around the edges, and the bananas were so bruised they looked like they’d been sitting at the bottom of someone’s bag all day. Everything else in the order was fine, like the cereal and oat milk, but the fresh stuff felt like they just picked whatever was worst on the shelf. I don’t think I’ll be using Instacart for produce again.

"Great Communication and Smooth Experience"
My shopper was really helpful and messaged me a few times about items that were out of stock, even sending pictures so I could choose replacements easily. The delivery ended up being a little later than the original time, but it wasn’t a big deal for me. Overall, I was happy with how smoothly everything went and really appreciated the good communication.

I really like that Instacart usually has a bunch of delivery windows open, even for the same day. It’s super helpful when I realize I forgot groceries and don’t feel like waiting until tomorrow.

I use Instacart mostly on my phone, and overall it’s been a smooth experience. The app is simple to figure out, searching for items is easy, and checkout doesn’t take much effort. I also appreciate being able to review replacement options ahead of time, since it makes the order feel more dependable. Every now and then the app can run a little slow, or it’ll show items that end up being out of stock, which can be frustrating. But in my experience, it works well most of the time and is still a service I feel comfortable using.

I keep having the same issue where items are missing from my order, and the replacements don’t really make sense. Compared to other stores or delivery services I’ve used, this one feels a lot less consistent. I don’t mind substitutions when they’re reasonable, but getting random swaps and still missing things is frustrating

"Missing item, but easy refund"
One thing was missing from my order, which was annoying because I kind of needed it, but it wasn’t the big hassle I expected. I reported it through the app and got the refund quickly, no back and forth or arguing with support. I mean, the item shouldn’t have been missing in the first place, so it’s not perfect, but since they fixed it fast I’m still okay with the experience.

"Pretty convenient overall"
instacart has been good for me overall. The only thing is item availability can be kind of hit or miss. Most of my groceries were found, but a few things I really needed were out of stock. The shopper did message me about replacements, though, so that helped a lot. It’s not perfect, well, I guess nothing really is—but it still saves me time, so I’d give it 4 stars
